Конфликт в Украине демонстрирует новые подходы к ведению войн будущего, утверждает заместитель министра обороны США.

U.S. Deputy Secretary of Defense Kathleen Hicks shared key insights regarding Russia's war in Ukraine, which is altering approaches to armament in future conflicts. This was reported by the U.S. Department of Defense, as conveyed by UNN.

Details

In her keynote address on the topic of "The Future Nature of War" at the Royal United Services Institute in London, Kathleen Hicks stated that Russia's war against Ukraine has highlighted the importance of utilizing relatively inexpensive and compact means, which will influence future wars globally and to which advanced armies will adapt.

According to her, Russia's war in Ukraine opens a "window into how future wars will be conducted." The current landscape represents the future of warfare, characterized by new capabilities and concepts made possible through commercial technologies—from satellites to drones.

She noted that initially, the new means and concepts being employed in Ukraine appeared to be "a minor adaptation made possible by the global proliferation of commercial technologies." Additionally, the widespread availability of communications and the use of electronic warfare tools, enabled by increasingly accessible technologies, have created new opportunities and challenges affecting soldiers' ability to maneuver, disperse, detect, and conceal themselves on the battlefield.

The U.S. Deputy Secretary of Defense emphasized that the combination of old and new technologies in Ukraine, such as small drones that allow for real-time artillery adjustments, "also represents a broader trend" that the world will undoubtedly witness in future conflicts.

It has been noted that the war in Ukraine has demonstrated that success in future wars will not be determined solely by technology. Kathleen Hicks remarked that alliances and partnerships with "asymmetric advantages" will continue to play a role in the future.

Hicks added that the ties between the U.S. and its allies extend far beyond their military domains.

Reminder

The U.S. Department of Defense reported the allocation of an additional $2.4 billion through the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative, which will provide the Ukrainian military with the necessary resources to counter the aggressor's actions.
