A child was struck by a train in the Kharkiv region while wearing headphones.

In the Kharkiv region, police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a girl's injury caused by a train on the railway.

This information was reported by the communications department of the Main Directorate of the National Police of Ukraine in the Kharkiv region, as conveyed by "Dumka".

According to the police, the girl was wearing headphones. While crossing the tracks, she was allowing a train heading to Merefa to pass and did not notice the warning signal from the railcar. The conductor applied emergency brakes but was unable to prevent the collision.

The injured party is a 13-year-old resident of Merefa. She is currently in a Kharkiv hospital in serious condition.

A criminal investigation has been opened under part 2 of article 276 (violation of safety rules for traffic or operation of railway, water, or air transport) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
