Near Kharkiv, firefighters battled a blaze for three hours, rescuing an elderly man who suffered burns.

In the Kharkiv region, a pensioner was injured as a result of a fire in Babai.

This was reported by the Main Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Kharkiv region, as conveyed by "Dumka".

According to the State Emergency Service, the fire occurred in the village of Babai in the Kharkiv district. Yesterday, January 12, at 14:47, a summer kitchen on the premises of a private household caught fire. The area affected by the fire was 100 sq.m. Firefighting efforts continued until 17:14.

A 68-year-old man sustained injuries in the fire. He was hospitalized in the regional hospital with burns to his face and carbon monoxide poisoning.

"The cause of the ignition was the exposure of a low-calorie ignition source to combustible materials," the State Emergency Service reported.
