Fire at psychiatric hospital: Kharkiv Regional State Administration has initiated an official investigation.

The Department of Social Protection of the Population of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration has initiated an official investigation into the fire that occurred on January 4, 2025, at the Komarov Psychoneurological Boarding School.

According to "Dumka," this information was reported by the Kharkiv Regional State Administration.

As per the department's data, inspections of fire safety in boarding schools and other subordinate institutions in the region have been initiated. These inspections will involve specialists from the State Emergency Service and representatives from the Kharkiv Regional Council.

At the time of the incident, there were 138 residents in the Komarov Psychoneurological Boarding School, including 5 beds for individuals with limited mobility, 11 of whom use wheelchairs. The medical facility employs 75 specialists.

The fire broke out in one of the rooms on the second floor. It was contained before the arrival of the State Emergency Service, with residents evacuated by the institution's staff and emergency service personnel.

Preliminarily, the source of the fire was on the bed of one of the residents. The exact causes of the fire are currently being investigated.

All materials have been seized for examination by law enforcement. Final conclusions will be made after the relevant investigations are conducted.
