The director of the Kharkiv theater "Arabesques," Svitlana Oleshko, has passed away.
This was reported by Kharkiv Regional Council deputy Serhiy Zhukov, as stated by "Dumka."
According to Zhukov, Oleshko departed this world yesterday, December 19. She was the founder of the legendary theater "Arabesques," which she established alongside her husband, Myssia Barbary.
"She was a very bright and talented person. She accomplished a lot in the field of cultural diplomacy and in showcasing Kharkiv and Ukraine in Europe. She dreamed of having a street in Kharkiv named after her husband. The sad news was conveyed by Oleshko's first husband, Serhiy Zhadan. Eternal rest and cherished memories. Heartfelt condolences to her family!" - Zhukov noted.
Let us recall that a request was made to the Terikhov City Hall to rename a street. They wish to honor Myssia Barbary with the new street name.
Note: The "Arabesques" theater studio was founded in 1993 by students of the theater department at the Kharkiv Institute of Arts. In the absence of any material base, the young collective found refuge at the Kharkiv Literary Museum, which has been and continues to be a space for the creative coexistence of many Ukrainian artists from Kharkiv - including painters, musicians, poets, and actors.
